Skymill is looking for two backend developers (Java/C#)

Anyone can bang the drums, but not all can become drummers. Anyone can create sounds with a guitar, but not all can become guitarists. And even if you make it to the point of calling yourself a drummer or a guitarist, very few people can reach the level of legends like John Bonham and Jimmy Page (not familiar with Bonham and Page? Go look up Led Zeppelin immediately). Bonham and Page had a special kind of relationship when it came to creative work. They were kind of building their own unique sound and style of playing from each other, and it is safe to say that none of them would have become as great as they were, without the other and without the others excellence.

Where are we going with the analogy? Well we are currently in the need of 2 backend developers, one banging the drums (Java) and one strumming the guitar (C#) and we want both of you to be the Bonham/Page duo of Skymill.

To be a part of this duo you should:

Have your own unique approach to software development
Be able to use other professions and professionals in order to bring your own work to a higher level
Have spent most of your career working with software development and engineering

What you will be doing

Playing for Skymill as a backend developer basically means that you have full responsibility and freedom when working with our clients. This means creating your own or reading up on our clients’ technical requirements. You also need to have the ability to turn these requirements into beautiful implementations, mainly using Java or C#. These implementations and your creations have to be an excellent representation of the clients' thoughts, wants and needs in their project. You also have to walk and support the client through the entire development cycle. The job includes both working at the Skymill HQ in Malmö and working at the clients location, when that is requested. The Skymill philosophy is that creativity has no geographical boundaries, and we are open to remote work. With that being said playing in a band, specially as the C#/Java duo, requires some physical interaction.

Most of all you have to let the passion you have for producing quality software shine through in your everyday work. You will be working alongside some of the most brilliant developers on the scene at the moment, so you have to be able to let them shine as brightly as you do.

Desired skills

When reading the ad, one might think that you actually have to be able to play either guitar or drums in order to apply for the position. Well you don’t, we already have 2 drummers and at least 3 guitarists in the Skymill band, so let's focus on the technical aspects:

Must have skills:

Deep knowledge and experience from software development using Java and/or C#
Web backend development using RESTful or GraphQL API’s
Experience with RDBMS and/or NoSQL databases
Experience from working with agile methodologies

Nice to have skills:

Experience and/or knowledge about what it takes to work as a consultant
Knowledge and experience working with Golang and/or Node.js
Software architecture skills
Experience in developing mobile apps
Knowledge of frontend development (JavaScript, React/Vue/Angular)
Knowledge of CI/CD and monitoring
Experience in Cloud infrastructure
